Majhawan Bye Election Results– ‘Ladies’ trapped in caste mobilization, war to save heritage. Who will become the captain?
Politics is very heated regarding Majhawan Assembly by-election. The main contest seems to be taking place between BJP and SP on this seat next to Varanasi. At the same time, BSP seems to be forming a triangle in this. In such a situation, who will win and who will lose? There is a lot of discussion going on on this.
Highlights
- By-election votes will be cast on Majhwan assembly seat on 20th
- There is an election war between the women candidates of BJP and SP.
- BSP has tried to play games through Brahmin candidate.
By-elections are being held on nine seats in Uttar Pradesh, but Majhwan assembly constituency of Mirzapur district, adjacent to Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has become the center of measuring political temperature.
Be it BJP, SP or BSP, all the leaders have made efforts to reach door to door with their supporters and solve political equations through social engineering. Amidst these efforts, the heat of the political furnace can be felt in the markets, squares and intersections.
Overall, issues ranging from development of the area, law and order, Ram temple, inflation, unemployment and other issues are dominated by caste based mobilization. In such a situation, Brahmins, Binds, Patels and Yadavs can become herders.
Big Fight and Revenge
Most of the area is rural and the view of small hills and waterfalls flowing on them is of Majhwan area. This is the area which was once dominated by Congress and then by BSP and now by BJP. But Samajwadi Party has not been able to open its account till now.
To retain the seat, BJP has fielded Suchismita Maurya while Samajwadi Party has tried to open its account through young candidate Dr. Jyoti Bind.
BSP has tried to block the way for ‘ladies’ to reach Lucknow by fielding Brahmin candidate Deepak Tiwari. At present the battle of Majhwan is not only a big one, it is a battle of revenge. In fact, SP candidate Dr. Jyoti Bind, daughter of Ramesh Bind, who was defeated by BJP candidate Suchismita Maurya in the 2017 assembly elections, is in the election field this time.
Total voters in Majhwan seat: 3,99,259 which includes women: 1,88,136 and men: 2,11,105.
Challenge to Save Heritage
Suchismita Maurya faces the challenge of not only winning this seat for BJP but also saving the legacy of her father-in-law Ramchandra Maurya. The voters of Majhwan had sent Ramchandra Maurya to the assembly for the first time in 1996 by blooming lotus.
After losing the Majhwan seat in the contest against BJP’s Suchismita in 2017, Ramesh Bind won the Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket in 2019.
Jyoti Bind, daughter of Ramesh Bind, who contested the elections from Mirzapur as an SP candidate after not getting a ticket in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, faces the challenge of restoring her father’s political reputation. BSP is trying to regain its lost prestige through its core voters and Brahmin voters.
Caste is a Big Factor
There are around 72 thousand Bind voters in Majhwan. Dalits and Brahmins are at second place. Their number is around 65 to 70 thousand. Yadavs are 40 thousand, Maurya 35 thousand, Pal 20 thousand, Muslim 25 thousand and Patel 22 thousand.
Here Bind, Brahmin and Dalit votes have been playing a big role in victory and defeat. Even though BJP, SP and BSP are claiming victory, conquering the fort will not be easy.
