In front of him, Congress had fielded Muslim face Sajid Pathan. Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi i.e. VBA had fielded Madan Bhargad on this seat. However, despite this, Govardhan Sharma had registered many victories. Govardhan Sharma got a total of 73,262 votes while Sajid Pathan of Congress got 70,669 votes. Apart from these, VBA’s Madan Bhargad had to be satisfied with a total of 20,687 votes only. In this election, Govardhan Sharma defeated Sajid of Congress by 2,593 votes.
