With the end of nominations and their withdrawal, the State Election Commission (SEC) of Odhisa released the final list of nominees. The SEC secretary, Mr. Rabindranath Sahu had declared that the polling session for Odisha Gram Panchayat Election will be divided into five phases.
The SEC Secretary also publicized that there will be nearly 1,89,099 candidates in the race. (i.e.- Approx- 26,539 candidates for Sarpanch, 22,109 candidates for Panchayat Samiti, 3,288 candidates for Zilla Parishad and 1,37,163 candidates for Ward member.)
The complete schedule for the Odisha Panchayat Election session was notified by Election Commission of India (ECI). With the announcement, the model code of election was put into force at once.
The major political parties in the state are Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC) and Biju Janta Dal (BJD). Both BJP and BJD have released their list of star campaigners. The SEC has deployed its officials and security personnel for the Odisha Panchayat Election poll.
The officials will not only supervise the parties and other proceedings, but also the expenditures incurred by the politicians. The politicians will be accountable for their expenses incurred in the political campaigning.
The Odisha Panchayat Election session will be conducted for the more than 850 posts of Zilla Parishads. A delay for two seats of Chitrakonda block has been announced due to security threats.
There are 18 Panchayats where the poll session has been postponed. There are 50 per cent of seats reserved for female candidates by the state government.

The political parties in the state of Odisha have begun their campaigning. The political campaigning will conclude a day before the Odisha Panchayat Election session. The polling will be held in five phases so that fair and smooth conduct can be accomplished.
The first poll will be conducted on the 13th of February 2017. The Election Commission is supervising the activities of every political party. It is issuing various notifications to spread necessary information to publics. For this purpose media is being used as a major medium to inform masses.
The five phases have been scheduled on the 13th, 15th, 17th, 19th and 21st of February this year. The voters will be allowed to cast their votes from morning 7 o’ clock till midday (12 noon).
The Odisha Gram Panchayat / Zilla Parishad Election Counting of votes will be done after 1 pm on the same day and the Odhisa Panchayat Election Live Result will finally be declared. Not only the political parties but also the voters are communicated necessary information from time to time.
The voters are under compulsion to provide necessary documents. To cast votes, the voters must also carry their valid voter’s id cards on the day of polling.
The Odisha Gram Panchayat Election are the three tier structure. The Panchayat work at the ground level and convey the requirements and grievances of people to higher authorities. The poll has augmented the political heat in the state.
