Maharashtra Odisha Rajya Sabha (RS) Election Live Counting Result  –Election to the Council of Odisha Maharashtra State Counting Live Result 2016 will be declared on 11th June 2016

The members of the legislative assemblies will be voting to elect the state representative to the Upper House i.e. the Rajya Sabha in the two states i.e. Maharashtra and Odisha. There are 3 Rajya Sabha seats in Orissa and 6 Rajya Sabha seats in Maharashtra on which voting was done. These seats have fallen vacant due to the retirement of the members early elected.  The date of retirement of the 3 members of Rajya Sabha representing Orissa is on 1st of July 2016 whereas the date of retirement of the 6 Rajya Sabha members representing the state of Maharashtra is on the 4th of July 2016.

These elections for voting of Rajya Sabha members are critical for the two national level parties I.e., Bhartya Janta Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC), to hold a stronger grip on the Upper House(Rajya Sabha). If the majority party of the Lok Sabha, which in this case is the Bhartya Janta Party (BJP), is also having a majority or having significant number of members in the Rajya Sabha will be of assistance in passage of essential bills and ordinances in the Rajya Sabha. While the Indian National Congress (INC) and other opposition parties would be eyeing to become a more strengthened opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

The election commission had declared the program for electing the members of Rajya Sabha for the seats that are falling vacant due retiring members. On the 24th of May 2016 (Tuesday), the notification was issued and the 31st of May 2016(Tuesday) was declared as the last day of nomination. The nominations were scrutinized on the 1st of June 2016 (Wednesday). The last date for withdrawal of candidatures declared was on the 3rd of June 2016(Friday). The date of polling is on the 11th of June(Saturday) as declared by the Nirvachan Ayog (Election Commission) and the hours of polling will be from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. On the same date i.e. 11th of June 2016 (Saturday), the counting would be done at 5:00 PM. The Election Commission has declared that all the voting proceeding shall be completed by 13th of June 2016 (Monday).
